Setting Your Clocks
WITH ANY CRITICAL SITUATIONS INVOLVING THE WATER AND TIDES, PLEASE REFER ONLY TO “OFFICIAL PRINTED U.S. TIDE TABLES” AND NOT TO ONLINE INFORMATION OR ANY TIDE CLOCK.
Tide Timer for use on the Atlantic Coast –
Set it once; it tells the tides until the battery needs replacing.
  1. Find out the time of your High or Low Tide in your area. Use the newspaper for tide listings in the Weather section, or log onto http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/sitesel.html on the Internet. Note: this link is provided only as a convenience; we are not responsible for its accuracy.
  2. Choose an upcoming time of high or low tide that will be convenient for you to set your clock.
    • The time of local high or low tide in your area
    • One AA Alkaline battery
    • Ball point pen
    • Your Tide Timer
  3. To move the red ball hand on your Tide Timer, insert a ball point pen in either of the two holes in the dial located above the battery in the movement on the back of the Timer. Rotate the dial with the pen to move the hand.
  4. Once the Tide Timer is set, you should not need to adjust it again until the battery expires or it experiences an extended period of lack of use (like from one summer beach season to the next). If you wish to obtain the most balanced readings, you may double check the settings of your clock vs. tide charts on any day of a full or new moon.
Tide Timer for use on the Pacific Coast
Set it once; adjust it weekly with our proprietary tables for optimum results.

  1. Locate the special Pacific Coast setting tables that came with your clock. (if they were not included or if you need an update for the current calendar year, contact us via phone or email info@tideclocks.com.
  2. Find the tables for an area nearest where you want to use the clock. This is the only section of the special setting table’s page that you need to be concerned with. You may then ignore all the other setting tables for other Pacific Coast towns.
  3. To set your Tide Timer you will need:
    • The special setting tables for your area of the Pacific
    • One AA Alkaline battery
    • Ball point pen
    • Your Tide Timer
  4. To move the red ball hand on your Tide Timer, insert a ball point pen in either of the two holes on the dial located above the battery in the movement on the back of the Timer. Rotate the dial with the pen to move the hand.
  5. Your Tide Timer is now set for the week ahead. On each of the following Saturdays you will need to follow the same procedure of referencing the time of High/Low Tide on your special setting tables, and adjusting the Timer’s red ball hand.
  6. You may notice that our setting times will be different from the published tide tables and may vary an hour or more at times. Our proprietary computer programs have developed these special settings to provide you with the most balanced readings through out the week. Remember, along the Pacific Coast, setting ours or any Tide Clock by the official published tables will NOT give satisfactory results.
LunaTime® Clock
Set it once; it will track the moon until the battery needs replacing.

To set your LunaTime you will need:
    • Access to the Internet
    • One C Alkaline battery
    • Your LunaTime Clock
  1. Log onto http://aa.usno.navy.mil/ on the Internet.
  2. Click on the “Data Services” Section.
  3. Click on the Link “Complete Sun & Moon Data for One Day”
  4. Type in your city, state and date you are setting the clock.
  5. Find the moon transit time. This is the time your LunaTime clock hand should be pointing directly up on the clock; so it’s also the time you should ideally be setting your clock.
  6. If you need to turn the hand, gently pull the knob on the back of the clock movement out and turn it. Push it back in when you’re finished.
  7. Ideally at this time, insert the battery and make sure the switch on the movement is “on”.
  8. If the published times are not convenient, you may extrapolate and set the LunaTime at a convenient time.
  9. For most balanced readings, double check the settings of your clock with the website’s moon transit time during a full or new moon. Then do not adjust it again until the next new or full moon.
